Episode 4: Statistical Testing and Behavior Analysis

Description:
The purpose of this presentation is to provide a brief introduction to several descriptive and inferential statical methods that can assist in interpreting data relevant to behavior analysts. We will first provide a comparison between visual analysis and statistical testing. The presentation will then provide three different case studies, each using real-world clinical data showcasing three different inferential statistical methods that can help answering questions relevant to behavior analysts. Each case study will include a step-by-step guide illustrating how to use GraphPad Prism, a powerful and user-friendly statistics software, in analyzing the data. Finally, the presentation revisits several considerations when using statistical testing and additional resources for interested attendee.

Zhihui Yi is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the clinical coordinator of the Cognition Behavior and Mindfulness Clinic at the IDHD Family Clinic at the University of Illinois Chicago. Zhihui receives his master’s degree in Arizona State University’s Applied Behavior Analysis program, and is currently perusing a Ph.D. degree in Rehabilitation Science at UIC. Zhihui is dedicated to promoting access and disseminating evidence-based intervention for persons with autism, especially among minority groups. He has presented his research in more than 30 conferences and has published 10 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Zhihui’s research interests include relational frame theory, early intervention, and the neurological impact of behavior therapy.
