This CEU is designed to be similar to a graduate course you might enroll at a university or college. There will be lectures, assignments, quizzes, and competencies you need to meet in order to "pass" the course.
Course Prerequisites. PEAK Level 1: Foundations Training.
Course Requirements. All 4 PEAK Learning Modules. PEAK Comprehensive Assessment (PCA). You will also need a video capturing device such as a phone, camera, or computer. You will not need access to an actual client or student, but you will need access to another human that may also be in this course, your home, or your workplace.
PEAK Level 2 expectations designed to ensure you have the ability to correctly run the PEAK assessments, and also the repertoire necessary to design and implement the PEAK treatment protocols.
A person who competes this CEU offering will also be competent in PEAK evaluation and intervention, have the ability to speak articulately about the program to stakeholders, know how to write goals and objectives for medical or educational necessity, and craft effective individualized interventions for every unique learner across all 4 PEAK modules.
Objective 1: Describe the rationale for the PEAK Comprehensive Assessment (PCA) as a standardized tool, and demonstrate at least 90% accuracy of correct administration of an entire PCA to another person. Video administration captured and graded.
Objective 2: Correctly explain the five subtests of the PCA, the learning modalities that are addressed, and the various decision making points for continuing and discontinuing administration in a 5 min video presentation designed to be delivered to interested parents and relevant stakeholders. Video performance captured and graded.
Objective 3: Understand and accurately complete the PEAK Challenging Behavior Observation and Autism Severity Scales for no less than one learner, and interpret the scores in conjunction with a comprehensive assessment and treatment program. Document generated and graded.
Objective 4: Write an effective insurance authorization request and/or individual education plan that incorporates PEAK assessment data and direction for treatment. Document generated and graded.
Objective 5: Correctly interpret PCA scores, deviations from norms, and relative strengths and weaknesses within a learner to craft an effective treatment program when given a variety of obtained sample PCA data. Document generated and graded.
Objective 6: Understand the overlap and non-overlap of PEAK with other ABA assessment and treatment tools, and how to convert the latter interventions into PEAK programing for existing learners. Using a sample non-PEAK assessment, alter goals and objective to align with the PEAK program. Document generated and graded.
Objective 7: When given a random selection of DT and G PEAK programs for intervention, conceptualize, design, and demonstrate effective delivery with another person. Video performance captured and graded.
Objective 8: When given a random selection of E and T PEAK programs for intervention, conceptualize, design, and demonstrate effective delivery with another person. Video performance captured and graded.
Objective 9: Deliver a short oral presentation with slides of an up-to-date literature review on PEAK highlighting strengths and weaknesses in the published data. Video performance captured and graded.
Objective 10: Demonstrate clear understanding of the various remediation processes (multiple exemplar training, isolated class review, stimulus alterations, etc.) in PEAK to establish relational responding, and derivations of stimulus functions when the initiallyprescribed methods are ineffective. Video performance captured and graded.
Objective 11: Discuss the re-assessment processes in PEAK as a means of progress monitoring, reauthorization requests, and demonstrating effectiveness of intervention. Document generated and graded.
Objective 12: Effectively articulate the linkage between PEAK and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and how the former can be used as a means to strengthen a learner's understanding of ACT interventions. Video performance captured and graded.
Objective 13: Provide an overview of the PEAK life architecture and how the program interfaces with the PCA to identify and remediate deficits in life and functional skills for learners of all ages.
