Dr. Mark R. Dixon has authored over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 books, and delivered more than 1,000 presentations around the globe. He has served as an editor or associate editor for many of the premier scientific journals in behavior analysis. Dr. Dixon’s research and expert opinions have been featured in Time Magazine, Newsweek, The New York Times, NPR’s This American Life, and Netflix’s Bill Nye Saves the World.
AIM Level 2 Learning Objectives
Participants will evaluate foundational AIM concepts to determine accurate and inaccurate applications of ACT processes and behavioral principles in applied scenarios.
Participants will identify key components necessary for effectively communicating the AIM model to parents, teachers, and other stakeholders, and select appropriate examples based on audience and setting.
Participants will analyze how language and relational framing influence behavior beyond the traditional three-term contingency and apply this understanding to case-based examples.
Participants will evaluate client scenarios to determine how AIM should be adapted based on environmental context, individual learner characteristics, and available resources.
Participants will identify appropriate strategies for modifying AIM implementation across settings such as schools, clinics, home environments, and telehealth service delivery.
Participants will analyze single-case scenarios to identify relevant environmental, behavioral, and relational variables and select appropriate assessment and treatment components.
Participants will evaluate treatment plans to determine alignment with AIM principles, including ACT processes, contingency management, and individualized intervention design.
Participants will identify common barriers to successful AIM implementation and select effective strategies to address issues such as low treatment fidelity, lack of engagement, and competing contingencies.
Participants will analyze clinical and educational scenarios to determine when AIM implementation breakdowns have occurred and identify the most appropriate corrective actions.
Participants will evaluate examples of AIM goals and objectives to determine whether they meet criteria for clarity, measurability, and alignment with client values and behavioral outcomes.
Participants will identify appropriate data collection methods and progress monitoring strategies for measuring behavioral, relational, and ACT-related outcomes within AIM.
Participants will analyze session-based scenarios to determine effective delivery of AIM, including appropriate use of metaphors, activities, reinforcement, and client engagement strategies.
